Company Guidelines:

  • The internship training should be primarily educationally focused.
  • Ensure that the intern is provided with a safe workspace. The workspace must be in a professional office and cannot be located in a private residence or non-commercial setting.
  • Ensure that a work station if available for the intern during the first day of the Training. If the student is required to use his own computer, the company has to notify the ICDC a week before the start of Internship.

  • Define a work plan for the intern designed to provide meaningful experience applicable to the student’s field of study and share it with the University Internship Center maximum by the first day of internship. Internship criteria may come with specific expectations and assignments from the intern’s university.
  • Appoint a dedicated supervisor who will be responsible for training and overseeing the intern’s progress during the entire stay period at the company for a successful internship.
  • Conduct an Internship orientation for the student on the first day of the Internship.
  • Ensure that at least 50 % of the proposed internship objectives and skills to be accomplished are met.
  • Ensure that no more than 25% of the intern’s duties involve clerical work.
  • Ensure that the online work, if any, should not exceed 25% of the entire project /Internship period.
  • Ensure that the intern does not perform inappropriate tasks, such as maintenance duties or personal errands for host organization employees.
  • Ensure that the student is not required to use their personal automobiles for duties at or related to the internship/intern site.
  • Host company should be open to onsite visits by the University of Dubai Academic Supervisor and ICDC staff for intern monitoring.
  • Field Supervisor should keep the communication lines open with the intern, the ICDC and Academic Supervisor to ensure a productive learning experience for all.
  • Field Supervisor should be available to meet and discuss with Academic Supervisor the student’s training progress during the 3 monthly meetings; 2 meetings in person and 1 online.
  • Report immediately any incidence and/or concerns regarding students’ possible misconduct, in writing, to the ICDC Executive and Academic Supervisor so that an action is taken.
  • Verify and sign the weekly reports of the student highlighting students’ weekly absences, late arrivals or early leaves.
  • Complete the Intern’s Performance Evaluation Form at the end of the Internship Program.
  • Provide a Certificate of Completion or a Recommendation Letter.
